Hi there, Cozy Friend!
We’ll get to perfect, or not so perfect endings, but first…
Another Episode of Death at Dogwood Lake is Out!
I can’t believe we’re already on chapter six—over halfway through! I had so much fun writing this one. It might be my favorite so far… though I seriously can’t wait for next week because chapter seven is shaping up to be even better.
What about you? Do you have a favorite chapter so far?

A Confession About My Publishing Timeline
I have to be honest with you. I was hoping to have the entire novella written and ready by now—sending out chapters on the podcast week by week while offering a complete version for anyone who just can’t wait (if the suspense is killing you or something).
I’m getting closer, but I’m still far enough away that I’m not sure I’ll release it early. And here’s the thing: part of me doesn’t even want to. Part of me is absolutely loving this journey—going week by week right along with you.
Perfect Endings (and Why I Might Not Like Them)
We finally finished Only Murders in the Building, and I think I realized one of the reasons I’ve been somewhat disappointed in the endings of the mysteries I’ve been reading lately.
Yes, perhaps the villain was underdeveloped. Okay, possibly the killer was too obvious. But maybe—mostly—the ending was too resolute. In Only Murders, there’s no actual ending. Before the season ends, there’s another mystery.
I’ve been wondering if the problem was me. And I think the answer is yes and no. I think endings aren’t my favorite, but I do like resolution.
So I’m curious: How do you all feel?
Do you want everything tied up in a pretty bow? Every question answered? Every mystery solved?
Or do you want just enough satisfaction to appease your burning curiosity while letting a few subtle mysteries remain unanswered? Do you want the resolution of the current story to answer your questions while raising new ones at the same time?
Hit reply and let me know—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
📖 What I’m Reading
A friend recommended a historical cozy mystery series I’d never heard of before, and so far I’m loving it! If you’re looking for something to sink your teeth into while prepping for the holidays or winterizing your yard, check out the Maisie Dobbs series. It’s a slow, steady burn that’s been keeping me interested, but probably won’t keep you up at night. Perfect if you’re looking for something you can pick up and put down at your leisure.
